What happens when a shipping company wants to keep everything customers love—just better, faster, and smarter? That’s exactly what Econofast asked us to do. We gave their old platform a serious upgrade, with smoother workflows, powerful automation, and smart integrations that keep things moving fast.

Problem Statement

Econofast’s original platform, FAST CDRS (Centralized Dispatch and Rating System), had solid bones—it helped them offer cheaper shipping rates to clients by bundling their shipping volume across major carriers.

But the platform was aging, full of manual tasks, and couldn’t keep up with growing client needs. The quoting system was originally built before APIs were common, relying on annual rate file uploads. As pricing became more dynamic, the static rates often became outdated and unreliable. The system also lacked flexibility to add new carriers or lanes, and since carriers applied their own discounts and calculated final rates, a more integrated and adaptable solution was needed.

Econofast required a platform that was smarter and smoother, to replace their legacy system and set them up for the long haul.

What We Did

We kicked things off by upgrading Econofast’s outdated Laravel 6 platform to Laravel 11. Then, we added Filament 3 to give the interface a fresh, user-friendly look. This made the system faster, more secure, and easier for staff to navigate right away.

Next, we tackled one of the biggest pain points: manually managing shipping rates. Econofast relied on spreadsheets and manual updates to stay on top of carrier pricing. We replaced all of that with smart API integrations. Now, the platform automatically pulls real-time shipping rates from major carriers like Loomis, Day & Ross, and CSA. We built a custom “API Adapter”, formatting each carrier’s data to work smoothly with Econofast’s system. No more juggling rate tables or hunting down updates.

We didn’t stop at automation. Econofast needed their key documents—like the Bill of Lading and Load Confirmation—to transfer perfectly into the new system. We made sure those critical forms stayed accurate and easy to generate.

Our team designed the platform to support growth from the ground up. We built flexible code, allowing new features and carrier APIs to plug in without breaking anything. Throughout the project, we worked closely with Econofast to respond quickly to feedback, uncover edge cases, and fine-tune the user experience.

The result? A powerful, modern platform that keeps up with their business—and helps them stay ahead of the competition.
